People are still talking about Saturday’s (Aug. 20) main event at UFC 202, which ended with Conor McGregor pulling out a majority decision in his rematch against Nate Diaz.
Apparently, it was the richest purse in MMA history.
McGregor gets a $3 million purse for the Diaz rematch, his biggest pay day to date.
He previously became the first UFC athlete to ever receive a disclosed purse of $1 million back in March at UFC 196 for their first meeting. Brock Lesnar surpassed that record at UFC 200 last month with a disclosed purse of $2.5 million, but McGregor one-upped him on Saturday.
Diaz (19-11) makes $2 million in disclosed pay for the fight.
The UFC doesn’t disclose financial terms of its contracts, but both McGregor and Diaz are ikely to make much more in undisclosed pay-per-view bonuses.
