Los Angeles denim brand, Citizens of Humanity, introduces its new Fall 2016 men’s offering, heavily inspired by men’s fashion from the 1990’s along with 1950’s work wear influences.
For the season, the brand takes an elevated approach into this season with a use of clean dark washes and premium construction, as well as a stronger emphasis on fit. Citizens of Humanity also continues to develop their “Premium Vintage” capsule, showcasing their craftsmanship on pieces that are all hand-sewn and finished.
Drawing inspiration from the artisanship of the 50’s and 90’s, the garments have a clear vintage authenticity. The “Return to Raw” concept is comprised of raw selvedge styles made from an un-dyed natural wash with a subtle sheen. We see the Raw offerings expanded this season with the introduction of a new raw selvedge jean, the Holden Slim in Natural Indigo. This style is made with a specifically developed natural indigo dye from Cone Denim and woven at its historic White Oak Mill.
Another concept from the Premium Vintage capsule is “50’s Modern Vintage” — a nod to 1950’s inspired men’s work wear. Here, we see new vintage blue washes introduced, with a dark classic blue hue named Preston, as well as a classic mid-blue vintage wash called Tennyson. Citizens’ iconic Classic Jacket in Wilkes remains a part of the new season, along with a work wear inspired update named the Newman Jacket.
The brand also adds a men’s classic chino to their line, including the Ander’s Chino, available in a khaki and army green; and “Black Denim” offerings in new dark shades that give a dressed up, yet masculine feel. Citizens of Humanity introduces the Blackford wash, a new black finish with a 90’s grunge look. Raw finishes such as the Blackstone is a black raw wash with structure and subtle sheen, which allows for a sartorial elegant look. The Noah Super Skinny and Bowery Pure Slim styles continue to be a focus for the brand, as well as the Gage Classic Slim.
The Citizens of Humanity Men’s Fall 2016 collection is available now online and at brand stocklists worldwide.
