After seeing the prototype earlier this year, we get official images of the upcoming, 2017 Honda Civic hatchback.
Styling only slightly changed from that original concept to the production, and also becomes the third body style in Honda’s 10th-generation Civic lineup and the first five-door Civic hatchback ever sold in the U.S. Honda says it will also form the basis for a sporty Civic Type-R model down the road.
The hatchback will be offered in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring trims, all of which boast Honda’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It will also come in either six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions, becoming the first Civic model to offer the turbo engine with a manual.
In the LX, EX, and EX-L trime, the engine boasts 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the Sport and Sport Touring models get a boost to 180 hp and 162 lb-ft., thanks in part to a freer-flowing center-exit exhaust. A Type-R will sport a whopping 340 hp.
The 2017 Honda Civic hatchback will be available at dealers this fall.
