Future Opens Up About Success & Imitators

Future opens up about his success and more in an MTV news special called The Reign of Future.

Captured during his “Purple Reign” tour earlier this year, the Atlanta rapper revealed that he was “not happy” with his stardom at one point, before addressing family, pain, and inspiration.

“I am Future Hendrix forever,” Future says. “That’s who I am. My mom named me Nayvadius, but I am Future Hendrix. The way I live, I’m a rock star, period.”

Later, he addresses imitators, saying: “I am the wave. Surfers got 40-foot waves. People get caught in the wave. They try to ride the wave and end up dying. They get lost in the water… You could ride the wave, but you not gonna be the wave. I am the wave.”
