Rihanna has been tapped, alongside Anne Hathaway, to star in an all-female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven, which will be titled Ocean’s Eight.
According to Deadline, the pair will join a star-studded cast that includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Nora Lum (better known as Awkwafina).
Ocean’s Eight will revolve around around a group of thieves who set off to pull off a major heist.
The film will be directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) and produced by Steven Soderbergh.
Soderbergh previously directed 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve, and 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. The trilogy grossed $1.12 billion worldwide, and featured a male-heavy cast, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Bernie Mac.
Production for the film is scheduled to start in October in New York.
