Drake threw some shots on Wednesday night (July 20), the first night of his “Summer Sixteen Tour”, but not at Joe Budden.
During the kickoff in Austin, TX, he opened up with his cut “Summer Sixteen”, and took a jab at fellow Toronto rapper Tory Lanez and Tyga — both of whom have dropped tracks similar to Drake’s hit, “Controlla”.
“All you boys doing fake controllas wanna be me a little?” Drake raps, altering the beginning lines of the second verse, as seen in the clip below.

Lanez previousy dropped his own remix to Drake’s “Controlla”, while Tyga released “1 of 1”, a song that is — at the very least — influenced by Drizzy’s hit.
However, the feud between Drake and Lanez dates back to Oct. 2015, when Lanez said on Twitter that calling Toronto “the 6” (something Drake has done extensively) was “not cool.” In another interview with The Breakfast Club, he called the term “kinda corny.”
And obviously, Drake and Tyga’s rocky past is well-documented, although the L.A. rapper says they have squashed their beef with the help of Kanye West. “It was really never no problem. It was miscommunication,” he told 106 KMEL earlier this year. “It was media. Then, once you get into the petty game, it’s just like let’s be petty all day. We never really had a problem.”
