Michael Jordan Discusses the Air Jordan 1 “Banned”
After Russell Westbrook offered his opinion on the return of the Air Jordan 1 "Banned" edition, MJ himself says his peace.
In a new promo clip, which Jordan Brand dropped on social media, Michael Jordan offered a few words about the shoe... regarding the NBA's objection to him wearing it on court. "It's like a young kid when your parents say you can't do something, and they wanna do it," MJ says. "I felt like I wanted to be different, and the league said, 'Well, we’ve gotta stop that.' "

Jordan infamously wore the "Banned" colorway of the Air Jordan 1 back in 1985, and was fined for each game he wore them. But, MJ continued to wear them... and Nike picked up the tab.
The Air Jordan 1 "Banned" returns Sept. 3.
