ScHoolboy Q stopped by The Breakfast Club radio show in NYC this week, in support of his new album, the Blank Face LP.
During the interview, the Los Angeles rapper explains why he hasn’t been able to enjoy the release of the new album… because his longtime friend got sentenced to a long prison stint.
“It’s rough,” Q explains. “You lose one of your homeboys, that ain’t easy. You don’t just be like, ‘Alright, I’m over it.’ I just got the news that he got 100 years the day my album dropped. ”
“This been my homie, even before I knew he was my homie,” he continued. “He’s the reason I’m even rapping about this lifestyle. He put me on the set.”
Elsewhere, Q talks about not wanting to miss out on his daughter’s life, which is why he took a lot of time since 2014’s Oxymoron; and how he lost 35 pounds in the last few months.
“It was time to step it up with my health,” he said.
