Kevin Durant finally spoke to reporters on Thursday (July 7), following his announcement to join the Golden State Warriors earlier this week.
When speaking, KD essentially says he feels like he’s at home.
“It’s been hectic. A lot of attention comes with being in this position,” heh said of the free-agency process. “When I met these guys, I felt as comfortable as I’ve ever felt. It was organic. It was authentic. It was real. It was feelings I couldn’t ignore.
“… I feel great. I feel excited about this opportunity.”
Durant was introduced by the Warriors after his contract was finalized on Thursday. He signed a two-year, $54.3 million deal with a player option after the first year, making him the highest-paid player on a roster next season.
Durant has spent nine seasons in the NBA, all with the OKC Thunder, during which he won MVP honors in 2014 and has been named first-team All-NBA five times, alongside seven AllStar teams. Despite the achievements, he’s only had one trip to the NBA Finals, which he lost in five games to the Miami Heat in 2012.
Last season, he averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
