As expected, VIEWS debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week, racking up 1.04 million sales in its first week for Drake.
The total is a mix of both streaming and traditional album sales. An exclusive to Apple through May 6, album also moved 852,000 traditional album units.
VIEWS is now the best-selling album so far in 2016, and best first week for a male artist since Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience in March 2013.
Humbled by the support, Drake thanked fans on Instagram, writing: “One million sold in one week. I am beyond grateful for this milestone. Thank you for listening”.
VIEWS was streamed 245.1 million times in the U.S.
It’s also Drake’s sixth straight No. 1, following 2015’s joint project with Future, What a Time To Be Alive.
