When the Power Rangers hit the big screen in 2017, they will all sport an overhauled look, which we get a first look at here, thanks to Entertainment Weekly.
Instead of the original spandex, the Rangers — consisting of Trini, Zack, Jason, Kimberly and Billy — will don “translucent extraterrestrial armor that crystallizes around their bodies,” EW describes.
Though the updates look futuristic, they are more of a visual throwback to the franchise’s mythology from the 1990s. “The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis,” director Dean Israelite says. “These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”
The Power Rangers reboot hits theaters March 24, 2017.
