Following the controversy from a video of him mocking an autistic teen, 50 Cent gives back to the cause.
After offering an apology, the rapper has donated $100,000 to the advocacy organization Autism Speaks.
“I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding,” 50 said in a statement. “There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support.”
Earlier this week, 50 came under fire after posting a video of himself harassing a 19-year-old who he thought was high, but it was later revealed that he suffered from autism.
After the incident, the teen’s stepfather demanded an apology and said he wanted the rapper to donate $1 million, but eventually asked him to donate $10,000 to Autism Speaks. 50 not only paid up more, but he also asked others to join him.
“I am calling on my fellow musicians, actors, entertainers and all others who may not have fully considered this cause to join together to help in any way they can,” he said.
