Just days after being hospitalized in Illinois, Prince has died. He was 57 years old.
According to TMZ, the legendary artist died on Thursday morning (April 21) at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.
The new comes after Prince was hospitalized last week, when his plane made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline. At the time, it was unclear why, but a rep eventually said that he was battling a bad case of the flu.
Prince will be remembered as one of the most iconic artists in music history. He stormed onto the scene in 1978 with his debut album, For You, which was followed by his self-titled LP a year later. But, it was 1984’s Purple Rain that cemented his place among music legends. It was his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and earned him two two Grammys, and Oscar.
During his over 35-year career, Prince released 39 solo studio albums. He continued to work up until his surprising death. Since 2014, he’s released four new full-length records with his latest band, 3rd Eye Girl.
