Johnny Manziel’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has officially served ties with the free agent quarterback, reports ESPN.
The incident follows news that Manziel spent the weekend in Southern California, partying at Coachella, days after his agent gave him an ultimatum — enter rehab or he would terminate him.
“I have informed him that if he takes the immediate steps I have outlined for him, that I will rescind the termination and continue to represent him,” Rosenhaus said last Wednesday. “Otherwise the termination will become permanent. There is a five-day window for me to rescind the termination. I’m hoping he takes the necessary steps to get his life back on track.”
It’s the first time in Rosenhaus’ 27 years as an agent that he has fired a player, reports ESPN.
Manziel’s former agent, Erik Burkhardt, severed ties with the NFL player in February, saying “accountability is the foundation of any relationship, and without it, the function of my work is counterproductive.”
Manziel entered the NFL in 2014, when he was selected by the Cleveland Browns by the 22nd overall pick. But, after two failed seasons in Cleveland, the team waived him… and he remains a free agent, as of press time.
