Back in 2015, Hopsin’s Funk Volume roster took on Crooked I and his Horseshoe Gang in a friendly rap battle, which the LBC rapper and his crew ultimately won.
In a recent interview with Vlad TV, Hopsin revealed that things “went too far” after he posting a photo on Instagram that upset Crooked I, who in turn, threatened the indie rapper.
Apparently, Hopsin posted a fan’s “F*ck Horseshoe Gang” T-shirt on Instagram, after spotting it at one of his shows. This angered Crooked I, who would go on to threaten to come to his show to confront him over it… and scaring him in the process.
“Things kinda went too far,” Hopsin explained. “I don’t know their background like that… Crooked I, they all threatened to come to my show. And I didn’t know what was gonna happen. I was like ‘F*ck, dude’… Everything was dead, but then I saw a fan at a show. And this was just like two months into the tour we did. Horseshoe Gang was like two months ago. It was all done. But then a fan just had a shirt that said ‘F*ck Horseshoe Gang.’ And I thought it was funny… So, I took a picture of him and posted it on Instagram. Crooked I got mad.”
Ultimately, Hopsin reached out and apologized and the two worked out the issue… and are cool now.
“I texted him…cause I saw that he was really upset by it,” he said. “And he was on some — It turned into some gangster sh*t real quick. And, I’m not about that life. That’s not my world at all… They’re like ‘You’ll look like a bitch if you take it down.’ I’m like ‘Bro, this is beyond rap’… I didn’t know how to feel about it. Cause Crooked I, he was clearly expressing an anger that was out of hip-hop. And I didn’t know where he was gonna take it.”
