Although he’s defected from his Funk Volume label, Hopsin is a very successful artist… who is actually self-made millionaire.
In a recent interview with Vlad TV, the Los Angeles rapper opened up about his indie success… and knowing that he’d get there before he had it.
“Everybody just always assumes they’re gonna reach that point, but I’ve always been aware I had to do something to make me reach that point,” Hopsin explained. “So, I always pictured myself being wealthy and being able to travel the world. I didn’t know how. If it was gonna be through skateboarding, through acting, through doing voice-overs for cartoons or animations, or music. I didn’t know what it was gonna be. But I knew it was gonna be one of those things. And when I was around 14 years old, I just realized that it was more than likely gonna be music that took me to that level.”
He goes on to explain that he’s been grinding for more than a decade to get to this point, but he decided is career-path in his teens. “I’m 30 years now, but I’ve been working [on music] since I was 14… I just started when I was 14. I became aware, and I just… I’mma keep going. Until this day, rapping’s beenn my thing every single day,” Hopsin says. “[I became a millionaire] at 27, 28.”
Later, he talks about starting Funk Volume… and his feud with ex-business partner, Damien Ritter, who he dissed on “ILL Mind of Hopsin 8”.
