While his ex-girlfriend Kehlani has made headlines over the past few days, following an apparent suicide attempt, NBA star Kyrie Irving has remained silent.
However, on Wednesday (March 30), he took to Twitter to address the situation, while clearing the air over rumors that she cheated on him.
“It’s been hard to see what’s been going on and not address the truth,” Kyrie wrote in tweets he’s since deleted. “I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this non sense that could have been avoided, but Me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out.”
“It’s unfortunate that it’s received so much attention but its become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood,” he continued… before making it clear that he has no ill will toward Kehlani. “Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family.”
Irving then concludes that his focus remains in the NBA. “My only focus the Game I love to play every night.”
Kehlani was hospitalized earlier in the week after attempting suicide. It came in wake of a rash of accusations that she was cheating on Irving, after her ex-boyfriend PARTYNEXTDOOR posted a photo of the two cuddling in bed.
She’s currently at home and “healthy,” she said on social media.
