Please, we hope this is not true… but reports have surfaced that the parent company of Roscoe’s House of Chicken N Waffles has filed bankruptcy.
According to KTLA, the company was ordered to pay out a $1.6 million judgement to a former employee who sued for discrimination and wrongful-termination in 2013, as well as $1.5 million in attorneys’ fees.
While it could be bad news for fans of the Los Angeles restaurant chain, the bankruptcy filing doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll will close. Typically, companies will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to restructure their debts.
The eatery is staple in Los Angeles. President Barack Obama even visited the Hollywood location in 2012 to eat.
Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles currently has seven locations — six in Los Angeles County and one in Orange County.
