Diddy is giving back to his hometown of Harlem with the opening of a new charter school.
The mogul’s camp announced Monday (March 28) that he has partnered with Capital Preparatory Schools to open a new school in Harlem beginning Fall 2016.
Located at 1 East 104th Street, the school will be overseen by Capital Prep’s founder Dr. Steve Perry and run by principal Danita Jones.
“I’m inspired by Sean Combs’ belief that educating our young people is the key to opening up a world of opportunity for them,” Dr. Perry said in a statement. “Sean and I have spent many long hours over the last five years talking about education and how best to meet the needs of the young people of Harlem, and I couldn’t be more pleased to continue this journey through the opening of the school.”
Diddy’s school is currently accepting applications for 6th and 7th grade students.
The school is planning to expand a grade each year until it is fully enrolled at 700 students in grades 6 through 12. For more info, visit the official website here.
