It’s finally coming. Arguably the most dominant woman in MMA is set to make her debut in the Octagon.

Cris “Cyborg” Justino will appear on the bill for UFC 198 on May 14 in Brazil, headlined by heavyweights: Fabrício Werdum versus Stipe Miocic.

Cyborg is set to face Leslie Smith in a 140-pound catchweight bout, announced on the UFC website.

She and the UFC have been negotiating to bring her into the Octagon for years, but nothing ever materialized. Her focus was has long been Ronda Rousey, but cutting weight to fight at 135 pounds was always the obstacle.

After Rousey lost to Holly Holm last fall, a new restriction banning intravenous fluids for rehydration was put in place, so Cyborg and her team determined that she couldn’t safely cut down to the bantamweight limit.

While a fight with Rousey, Holm or current champion Miesha Tate is still their desire, Cyborg has recently been lobbying to fight anyone in the UFC… which has finally worked out.

Although she’s never fought in the UFC, Cyborg is widely considered the top pound-for-pound female fighter in the world.
