Vans honored its 50-year heritage on Wednesday night (March 16) with gatherings in both New York City and Austin, TX… garnering thousands of guests at the House of Vans.
The Brooklyn House of Vans and SXSW pop-up House of Vans at the Mohawk both were transformed to showcase the brand’s most iconic moments, while Erykah Badu, Nas and Yeasayer took the stage for epic performances.
At the House of Vans Brooklyn, attendees walked through a striking checkerboard threshold before being transported into the world of Vans. Inside was a retrospective look at the brand’s history with a curated selection of Vans footwear, highlighting the design progression over the last 50 years. Guests were also treated to custom made, embroidered Vans checkerboard Slip-Ons.
Vans’ own Steve Van Doren later graced the stage, joined by Vans athletes and extended family, to toast the once in a lifetime moment.
Meanwhile, the House of Vans at the Mohawk opened its fourth straight year at SXSW Music Festival to kick off the four-day musical series with a historical presentation of Vans band shoe collaborations including projects by music legends Motörhead, The Bad Brains, The Descendants, Public Enemy and more.
Vans will continue its celebration with more House of Vans 50th anniversary events scheduled in London, Sau Paulo, Toronto, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong — each of which will expand the House of Vans experience around the world.
