Hopsin Details Funk Volume’s Closure & Beef With Partner

After addressing his fallout with his Funk Volume partner Damien Ritter in his new song, “Ill Mind of Hopsin 8”, Hopsin appears on Power 106 LA to further address their issues and split.

During an interview with The Cruz Show, the rapper accuses Ritter of taking more money than he deserved and not being comfortable with questions over finances.

“There was a lot of stuff going on with the way things were being ran,” Hopsin explained. “So, I just kept asking more and more questions, and Damien was so uncomfortable with me asking these questions. When you’re doing business with anybody, you should be able to ask questions. If we start a business, it should be comfortable, no bad vibes.”

“I just kept asking questions and things just weren’t making sense. So, I just came to the conclusion that I needed a new manager,” he continued. “I came to that conclusion, Jarren Benton did, Dizzy Wright… we all agreed as a group that we needed a new manager, because Damien was managing all of us. And, he’s deciding how much money we’re making. It just felt weird.”

Hopsin goes on to say that Ritter accused him of “not working hard” on multiple occasions, which ultimately became the straw that broke the camel’s back… leading to the end of the Funk Volume brand.
