Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason arrested on Saturday night in Hollywood, FL, reports ESPN.
Local authorities say the 22-year-old was arrested on on suspicion of possession of marijuana, reckless driving, failure to register a motor vehicle and resisting arrest… and tased in the process.
The arrest report says an officer began following Mason after spotting his Porsche driving more than twice the speed limit in a 35 mph zone. Then, he alleged drove away from him and stopped only when his car was blocked by another vehicle.
While stopped, the officer said Mason refused to give his name or provide his driver’s license… also smelled marijuana. From there, the officer told Mason he was under arrest and asked him to exit the vehicle, but he refused showed “great resistance” when officers tried to pull him out.
The NFL player was eventually arrested and taken into custody, before being transported to a local hospital for medical clearance.
“We are very disappointed to learn of an incident involving Tre Mason in the Miami, Fla., area Saturday afternoon,” the Rams said in a statement Sunday. “We are in the process of obtaining more information about the facts surrounding this incident and will have no further comment at this time.”
At press time, it’s unclear if he’ll receive punishment from the league and/or team.
