Ty Lawson

Days after a buyout with the Houston Rockets, guard Ty Lawson is joining the Indiana Pacers, reports Yahoo Sports.

Details are unknown, but the free agent is expected to sign the contract with Indiana this weekend, after the team completes a buyout of forward Chase Budinger.

The report says Lawson will likely play a backup role to guard George Hill.

After finishing third in the NBA in assists last season with 9.6 per game while playing with the Denver Nuggets, he was busted on a pair of DUI arrests and struggled this season, averaging just 3.4 assists — the lowest total since his rookie season in 2009-10.

In his seven-year career, Lawson has averaged 13.3 points and 6.2 assists.
