Kanye West Reveals What “Pablo” Inspired Album Title

Since Kanye West decided on The Life of Pablo for his album title, fans have speculated about the meaning behind the name. While it was assumed that it was a reference to either the artist Pablo Picasso or drug lord Pablo Escobar, he had someone else in mind.

In a series of tweets on Saturday evening, Kanye revealed that Pablo is the Apostle Paul -- which is "Pablo" in Spanish -- serving as the inspiration for the album title. It seems to make sense, due to the fact Ye has said a few times that The Life of Pablo is a "gospel album with a lot of cursing".

"Paul ... The most powerful messenger of the first century... Now we stand here 20 centuries later... Because he was a traveler...," Kanye wrote. "He was a learned man not of the original sect so he was able to take the message to the rest of the world..."
