The Houston Rockets have acquired Josh Smith in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced on Friday.
The Rockets get Smith and the draft rights to Ukrainian player Serhiy Lishchuk, in exchange for the draft rights to Maarty Leunen. L.A. will also send cash to Houston to cover the balance of Smith’s salary.
The 30-year-old averaged 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game after being acquired by the Rockets last season in a trade with the Detroit Pistons. He then signed with the Clippers as a free agent in July, where he averaged career lows of 5.9 points, 38.3 shooting percentage and 14.3 minutes a game.
Leunen, a second-round draft pick in 2008, is currently playing for Sidigas Avellino in Italian Serie A, while Lishchuk currently plays in the Ukrainian leagues.
