Fans will have to wait for the Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch, because the new women’s champ is set to fight at UFC 197 in March… and Rousey isn’t on the bill.
According to ESPN, Holm will take on her first title defense against Miesha Tate (17-5), who Rousey has defended twice.
The other headliner — in what is sure to be a blockbuster — is newly crowned featherweight champion Conor McGregor (19-2), who will move up in weight and challenge lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos for the 155-pound championship.
Despite reports, the UFC has yet to officially announce either title fight. Furthermore, sources say bout agreements have not yet been signed.
UFC 197 will take place at either Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center.
McGregor (19-2) is coming off a 13-second knockout win over Jose Aldo for the 145-pound title at UFC 194 on Dec. 12, which set a UFC record for fastest finish in title-fight history.
Holm, who recently inked a contract extension with the UFC, is obviously coming off an upset knockout of Rousey for the 135-pound female title.
