Fedor Emelianenko

MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko scored a TKO in his return from retirement on Thursday (Dec. 31).

According to ESPN, the 39-year-old defeated Jaideep Singh via TKO at 3:02 of the opening round.

The fight was the co-headliner of the Japanese startup promotion RIZIN Fighting Federation’s inaugural event, which took place at Tokyo’s Saitama Super Arena.┬áIt also marked Emelianenko’s first appearance since retiring in June 2012, following a first-round knockout over Pedro Rizzo.

Emelianenko announced his return in late September, before eventually signing with RIZIN in October, though he had offers from several promotions, including the UFC.
