MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko scored a TKO in his return from retirement on Thursday (Dec. 31).
According to ESPN, the 39-year-old defeated Jaideep Singh via TKO at 3:02 of the opening round.
The fight was the co-headliner of the Japanese startup promotion RIZIN Fighting Federation’s inaugural event, which took place at Tokyo’s Saitama Super Arena. It also marked Emelianenko’s first appearance since retiring in June 2012, following a first-round knockout over Pedro Rizzo.
Emelianenko announced his return in late September, before eventually signing with RIZIN in October, though he had offers from several promotions, including the UFC.
