Phoenix Suns star Eric Bledsoe will miss the rest of the season, after suffering a knee injury over the weekend, reports ESPN.
The team made the announcement, saying Bledsoe’s is expected to “return to full playing status for the start of training camp next fall.”
He underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, which he suffered during the Suns’ home loss to Philadelphia on Saturday.
The injury marks the third significant knee injury in Bledsoe’s six-year NBA career. He had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee in 2011 and had the right meniscus removed in January 2014.
So far this season, Bledsoe played 31 games, averaging 20.4 points and 6.1 assists per game.
He also signed a five-year, $70 million contract just before the start of last season.
