Major League ballparks around the country have statues honoring specific players… except Dodgers Stadium… until now.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced this week that the team will erect a player statue for the first time in their stadium’s history… of Jackie Robinson, reports Dodgers Insider Blog.
The man who broke baseball’s color barrier has been featured in film and also remembered each season on April 15 with players wearing his No. 42. Now, Robinson will be immortalized with his own statue at Dodgers stadium.
The Jackie Robinson statue is scheduled to be unveiled in 2016 at a location to be determined.
