Following the success of Kyrie 1, Nike returns with the second signature shoe for NBA star Kyrie Irving: the Kyrie 2.

Known for having one of the most deadliest crossovers in the NBA today, Irving needs a performance shoe capable of withstanding the pressure he puts on his sneakers.

The Nike Kyrie 2 introduces a first-of-its-kind curved midsole and outsole, aimed to support Irving’s swift cutting movements, deceleration and the ability to stop on a dime. According to John Brenkus, the creator/host of ESPN’s Sport Science, Irving pushed off of the hardwood floor with 770 pounds of force at an impressive 40-degree angle. As a result, Nike has introduced a curved surface for the Kyrie 2’s midsole and outsole.

His ability to start and stop is controlled by the traction pattern and strapping system on the Kyrie 2, while the Zoom Air unit helps add comfort and impact responsiveness.

The Nike Kyrie 2 is available now on NikeID and will debut in an “Effect” colorway on Dec. 15, followed by an “Inferno” colorway (shown above) to drop Jan. 1.
