After being involved in a headline-grabbing shuffle last week in Boston, Philadelphia 76ers star rookie Jahlil Okafor will now be accompanied by security whenever he goes out, league sources tell ESPN.
The report said the request for security came from Okafor’s handlers, who asked the Sixers to employ a security guard for the rookie big man. “A lot of teams do that for their players anyway,” a source close to Okafor said. “So from now on, the Sixers are going to have someone at his disposal full time.”
The 20-year-old was caught on video engaging in a brawl with a man outside a Boston nightclub early Thursday morning. The victim filed a report with the Boston Police Department, but no charges have been filed.
The Boston incident followed a previous altercation in Philly in October, where a heckler pointed a gun at Okafor following a verbal exchange at a club in Philadelphia.
That’s not it. Apparently, he was stopped by police in October for going 108 mph on a Philadelphia bridge, whic is considered reckless driving, according to the report.
