Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith is being accused of choking a 19-year-old high school student in New York City, reports the New York Daily News.
Citing police sources, the paper alleges that the NBA player confronted a teen named Justin Brown, after he heckled him for being traded from the New York Knicks last season.
The incident took place while the Cavs were in town to play the Knicks on Nov. 13.
Police sources told the Daily News that Smith allegedly pushed the kid “against the exterior of the building and put his hands around Brown’s neck.”
Despite the allegations, Smith’s attorney, Alex Spiro, said the claims were “absolutely false.”
Smith, himself, has not spoken to the police about the alleged incident, but did address them on Twitter, writing: “Don’t believe everything you read!”
