The popular Hoverboard you see everyone riding has been banned in the U.K., according to Metropolitan Police.

The motorized, wheeled decks have gained popularity over the last few months, showing up all over the Internet, from Youtube to the social media profiles of the biggest celebrities.

Twitter account, MPS Specials, sent out a tweet on Sunday night (Oct. 11), warning that it is now illegal ride the Hoverboard on public streets and sidewalks in the UK.

The tweet also links to info from The Department of Transport, which explains that laws governing the Hoverboard are based of those that regulate Segway transport -- meaning it's only legal to ride your Hoverboard on private property with the landowner's permission.
