Lexus Reveals Full-Sized, Origami-Inspired Cardboard Car

Lexus continues to think outside the box. Celebrating the craftmanship of its designers, Lexus creates a car like one never before seen.

The Lexus Origami Car is a replica of their new IS model, made of 1,700 sheets of precision-cut cardboard. Each 10mm thick, the cardboard sheets were glued together by hand in sequence with a water-based wood glue, taking 10 minutes to set every time, carried out by LaserCut Works and Scales and Models using a digital 3D model of the sedan.

It took a total of three months to assemble, before it was mounted atop a steel and aluminum frame with an attached electric motor. So yes, this car is driveable.
