Days after leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves, former No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett has cleared waivers and is expected to sign with the Toronto Raptors, reports ESPN.
The report says that only the Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers had sufficient salary-cap space to claim Bennett, while the Cleveland Cavaliers had a trade exception big enough to absorb his $5.8 million salary.
Instead, Bennett left the T-Wolves with a $3.65 million buyout and is expected to sign with the Raptors for $947,276.
Minnesota had attempted to deal Bennett, but could not find a trade partner.
