With his self-titled debut dropping this week, Fetty Wap stopped by Power 106 in Los Angeles to talk about his success thus far and more.
First, the NJ rapper talks about why fans don’t see him on too many guest features.
“I don’t really be looking for artists like that. I just try to build relationships first, before I start trying to do music with people,” Fetty explains. “For the most part, the only people who asked me for features are people I’ve been building relationships with. So, it’s like, I already did em. Kid Ink, Chris Brown, French Montana… it was a certain group of us where, we just had a different vibe. Those are people I seen most of the time. ”
Later, he explains the true meaning of his name.
“When it first started, it was only three of us pushing it. It’s not just me. That’s what people don’t understand. Fetty Wap is just the name. I’mma artist, but it’s just the name. It’s the team.”
Fetty Wap’s debut drops Sept. 25.
