Since being chosen with the #1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, forward Anthony Bennett hasn’t lived up to expectations.
He was shipped off to the Minnesota Timberwolves last Fall, as part of the Kevin Love-Andrew Wiggins trade… and now, it appears his time with the team is up.
According to ESPN, the T-Wolves are looking to buy out Bennett’s contract, after failing to garner interest in a trade, giving them an extra roster spot and added flexibility with the salary cap.
If he clears waivers, as expected, Bennett, who was due $22.6 million over the final three years of his contract, would become an unrestricted free agent.
He played in 57 games last season, averaging 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
