DJ Mustard has, arguably, been one of the hottest producers in hip-hop over the last few years. So much so, several other producers have duplicated his sound.
The Los Angeles producer took to Twitter this week to call out the producers of recent hits, Jidenna’s “Classic Man” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” calling both rip-offs of a sound he’s popularized.
Apparently, Mustard was flabbergasted that the producers of Iggy’s breakout hit are suing the producers for “Classic Man,” claiming it’s a rip-off.
“The producers of fancy sued the n*ggas that did classic man. n*gga suing for sh*t they ain’t start,” Mustard wrote in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. “Fancy was a rip off … Classic mans a rip off … Str8 up!
“The moral of the story is I haven’t sued nobody YET. that’s like a n*gga stealing a bike and selling it back,” he continued. “I’m flattered I’m not mad I just couldn’t see how the producers from fancy who’s not from la or the bay was cool with. Sueing the next when they stole they sh*t 2. This is a west coast sound people from la all the way to the bay… I’m just one of the ones keeping it alive.”
