The Denver Nuggets have re-signed guard Jameer Nelson, to serve primarily as a backup and mentor for rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, reports ESPN.

Details of the deal were unknown, but is said to be for multiple years.

The 33-year-old Nelson played 34 games last season for Denver, mostly as a backup to Ty Lawson, who has was traded to Houston last month.

This season, he's expected to play a similar role off the bench with Mudiay, the seventh overall pick in this summer's draft, being the starter.
