Lil Wayne took the stage at KMEL’s Summer Jam on Saturday (June 13) at Oakland’s Oracle Arena, making a big announcement.
“I just signed a deal with my motherf*ckin’ idol, Jay Z,” Weezy told the crowd, who cheered with approval.
The deal he’s referring to is unclear, though. Earlier in the month, reports surfaced that the rapper had become the latest artist to join Jay’s TIDAL service, so he’s likely referring to this new deal… which will see his Free Weezy Album drop exclusively through the streaming platform.
So far, Wayne has released a single, titled “Glory”, exclusively through TIDAL… and is set to perform an exclusive TIDAL X show for subscribers.
While it’s definitely good news for Lil Wayne, it’s unclear where he stands with his longtime label Cash Money Records and its founder Birdman, whom he sued for $51 million earlier this year.
Maybe, Roc Nation is also on table?
