Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was picked #2 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft in April, but is #1 in jersey sales.
The 21-year-old led all NFL jersey sales in May, edging out Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who was the first overall pick.
“It’s surreal for me, it’s such an honor,” Mariota said Wednesday (June 3) in a radio interview. “For me it’s one of those deals, looking back on it in the future, it’s a crazy, crazy deal for sure.”
Behind the two rookies was New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in third, despite recent controversy regarding the DeflateGate scandal.
Then, it was Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning rounding out the top 10.
Last May, Browns QB Johnny Manziel had the best-selling jersey. This year, he didn’t rank among the top 25.
