Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star in the upcoming action disaster film, San Andreas.
In the film, he plays Ray Gaines, a Los Angeles Fire Department rescue-helicopter pilot who sets forth on a dangerous journey to rescue his estranged daughter in the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California.
With San Andreas hitting theaters on Friday (May 29), The Rock sits down for an interview about his character, what drew him to the script, and the preparation he went through to get ready for the role.
“I read the script, and I loved it. I wanted to do it and the first thing that popped out of me was, ‘I think audiences are gonna love this’ … if we do it right,” says The Rock. “By the way, it’s the way I read every script, ‘Audiences love it’ and I think if there’s something I can put my spin on and create a character that is interesting, has some heart and decent quality to him. So, I read it, loved it and I knew immediately, I wanted to make it within 24 hours, and then, we’re sitting here and we made it.”
