Although there’s been talk of the Raiders moving to Los Angeles in 2016, franchise owner Mark Davis says Oakland is still the top option.
According to ESPN, Davis told protesters this week that he is promising to do all he can to keep his team in the Bay Area.
Davis said he will know by June 21 from the City of Oakland and Alameda County about a preliminary financing plan for $400 million to build a new stadium in the East Bay, which he says would cost $900 million.
Both the Chargers and Raiders announced in February that the team were collaborating on a new stadium they would share in Carson, California.
However, the Joint Powers Authority in Oakland approved a one-year lease that will allow the Raiders to play at O.Co Coliseum for one more year.
Additionally, Davis says he has no plans to sell the team in his lifetime, nor consider moving it to St. Louis.
