Pitch Perfect 2

After three weekends at #1, Avengers: Age Of Ultron has finally been dethroned by the Anna Kendrick comedy, Pitch Perfect 2.

The Elizabeth Banks-directed sequel left Mad Max in the dust, earning $70.3 million, though it cost just $29 million to produce.

George Miller’s critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road landed at a distant second in its debut weekend with $44.4 million. The high-octane, post-apocalyptic film cost a reported $150 million to make and stars Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.

Avengers fell to #3 with $38.8 million to bring its total to $372 million to date, and $1.1 billion worldwide.

Hot Pursuit falls to #4 with $5.7 million and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 $3.6 million.

That’s a wrap for this weekend. This upcoming week, look out for the release of the 2015 remake of Poltergeist and the George Clooney sci-fi Tomorrowland.
