Bow Wow, a.k.a. Shad Moss, is the latest artist to leave the Cash Money Records camp.
He signed with Birdman’s label back in 2009, but never released an album. Apparently, he couldn’t sit and wait any longer, and has decided to leave.
Bow Wow took to Facebook to explain his decision to move on, making it clear there was no bad blood.
“This is a peaceful situation,” Bow explained. “This is me waking up and looking myself in the mirror, analyzing myself and asking myself, ‘What do want out of your career? What do you wanna do?’ I have so much music that needs to be heard. That wants to be heard by my fans. And I feel like it’s unfair. I’ve been quiet now for four years. I didn’t wanna say nothing because I wanted to make sure the time was right. And I wanted to make sure that I said what I wanted to say, it was said correctly. With that being said I feel like I had to part ways.”
The rapper goes on to say that it was frustrating being able to not release music when he wanted… as he sits on an archive of music.
“I wanna dictate when my music come out. I’m tired of going to the studio to make records and then I listen to them. ‘Cuz then they get old. Then when y’all ask for new music I don’t wanna hear it ‘cuz I’ve been listening to it for two or three months. I just can’t be held up up by nobody. It’s as simple as that. I got a daughter. I gotta family I gott provide for.”
Before signing off, Bow Wow reveals that he’s linked up with two people who gave him his start, Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg.
“Why not go back to the creators and masters who branded me? That’s Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri. This is gonna make my new situation even more monumental. I wanted to be my own man. I wanted to be a boss and call my own shots.”
