Actor Hugh Jackman hinted at it in late March, but now, it’s all but confirmed. He will be retiring his claws after completing his third Wolverine movie.
The 46-year-old appeared on The Dr. Oz Show on Thursday (May 7), during which he made the confirmation.
“This will be my last one,” Jackman said of the role he’s portrayed, at least, seven times on the big screen.
“It is my last time,” he continued. “It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.”
As for details about the untitled Wolverine 3, Jackman didn’t say much. “I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
Wolverine 3 is due out in March 2017.
It’s unclear if Jackman will appear as Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse, which began filming this month.
