Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao (Official Ad Spot)

Are we headed for Mayweather-Pacquiao 2?¬†Following news that Pacquiao had fought with a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, Floyd says he’s willing to fight him again.

According to ESPN.com, the undefeated boxing superstar told Stephen A. Smith in a text Tuesday (May 5) that he would be open to a rematch with Manny, after he recovers from shoulder surgery to repair his shoulder.

“I will fight him in a year after his surgery,” Mayweather wrote in the text, following his unanimous decision over the Filipino boxer on Saturday (May 2).

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache told ESPN.com on Monday (May 4) that Pacquiao will have surgery later this week to repair a “significant tear” in his rotator cuff, which he suffered prior to the fight. The procedure will sideline the boxer for at least nine to 12 months.

After the fight on Saturday, Mayweather said he planned to fight in September. But, with one fight remaining on his Showtime contract, we could see Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 next May if he stays true to what he says in the text

The MGM has plans to open a new MGM Grand Arena in April 2016, so it may line up perfectly.

However, surgery isn’t the only hurdle for a rematch between the two. Reports say Pacquiao could face a possible fine or suspension from Nevada boxing officials for failing to disclose his shoulder injury on a form prior to Friday’s weigh-in.
