Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins has been named the NBA rookie of the year.

The NBA made the announcement on Thursday (April 20).

Wiggins was shipped to Minnesota in a major trade for Kevin Love with the Cleveland Cavs, who picked him with the #1 pick in last summer’s draft.

This season, the 20-year-old averaged 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds, and played in all 82 games in his first season.

Wiggins received 110 first-place votes and 604 total points in the voting. Chicago’s Nikola Mirotic finished second and Philadelphia’s Nerlens Noel was third.
