After Lil Wayne dissed Young Thug at a Mississippi show this week, the Atlanta rapper took to social media to respond.
If you haven’t been following, here’s a brief rundown. Thugger is dropping an album titled Carter 6, inspired by Weezy’s album series of the same title.
Wayne isn’t feeling it, and threw a shot at the rap newcomer, during a stop on his “Release Partiez” tour on Thursday night (April 9), saying: “Y’all let him know I said, ‘F*ck ’em.’ Stop listening to songs of n*ggas who pose naked on their motherf*cking album covers.”
Young Thug took to Instagram on Friday (April 11) to respond, but didn’t return fire, because he says, Lil Wayne is his idol.
“I understand that Lil Wayne is frustrated about his career and I feel him on that, but this is my idol,” the rapper said. “I would never in my life swap words with him or beef with him about nothing. This is a person that I look up to. Ha Ha.”
Lil Wayne has released four volumes of his Tha Carter album series. He previously said his forthcoming Carter V project would be the last one before he retires. So, Young Thug said he wanted to carry the torch after his idol steps away… which is why he’s titled it Carter 6.
